Asda Extra Special Java Volcanic Island Coffee

Asda Extra Special Java Volcanic Island CoffeeWe've had two of these in the same day. The reason for that?  It's 'effing blinding, that's what. Post my visit to Taylors lab last week, we've sharpened up our act in the kitchen. We've now got a timer to make sure we do a standard 3 1/2 minutes for each brew, and we're not going to open a new packet until we've finished the last one - or left it in the kitchen for the peasants to finish off. There's nothing to fault this on - it's thick and heavy, full of flavour yet no bitter aftertaste. I found out last week that these Asda Extra Specials are, infact, made for Asda by Taylors themselves - which explains me going out of my way to find an Asda just so I could try one. There's a big range too. Excited. No question - it's a 10/10

What the Manufacturer's say:

"Grown on volcanic slopes on the legendary coffee-growing island of Java, home of some of the world's most full-bodied coffee. Dark roasted for a rich, smooth flavour with a hint of bittersweet dark chocolate"

The Nooge walked in this morning with a big grin and some new coffees to try out. This first offering on a Monday morning is a healthy looking strength 5 with Java in the name. It's simply titled Extra Special and it's an Asda own :o. Can't say I was expecting the best ever and it does say dark roasted with a hit of bittersweet dark chocolate. Usually a sign that it tastes nothing like coffee however i'm so pleasantly surprised i've whacked this straight in at a 9 for it's first try. The second will seal it's fate. In order to compensate for the chocolatey flavour which inevitably didn't exist I did dunk a choccy biccy half way through so maybe it's my great mood this morning or it's the coffee itself, it doesn't matter it's been a perfect start. And of course being from asda it's 2pence cheaper than it's rivals. Thumbs up.

I have been reliably informed that this ‘Asda’ Lava Java may well be it’s taylors name sake repackaged in asda colours. However, we know the wall mart brand would never do so something so cynical as to take credit for others work. With that in mind, here’s my review. It's amazing Permalink Submitted by Judge Hank on Mon, 09/12/2011 - 11:00. The Nooge walked in this morning with a big grin and some new coffees to try out. This tastes great, in fact it's the only ground coffee we buy! It certainly awakens the senses and it's ethical too :-)
